📢 Survey on Japanese Expat Employment, Payroll & Social Insurance in Vietnam
Hi, this is Sugeno from Manabox Vietnam.
We’re currently running a short survey (5–7 minutes) about how Japanese expatriates in Vietnam are actually being employed and paid, and how companies handle Vietnamese social insurance (BHXH).
In practice, many companies are struggling with questions like:
Should we hire expats under a local labor contract in Vietnam?
Or treat them as intra-company transferees / secondees from Japan?
How should we split the salary between Japan and Vietnam?
To what extent should we enroll them in BHXH in Vietnam?
Laws such as Decree 219/2025/NĐ-CP and various official letters now exist,
but there is still a big gap between the law on paper and what companies really do on the ground.
🎯 Purpose of the survey
Our goal is not to say “this is the only correct answer.”
Instead, we want to:
Visualize what companies are actually doing now
Understand which models they choose and why
See where the main risks and pain points are
Then we will compare the results with relevant laws and official letters to help identify realistic and compliant “best practices” for this new era.
📝 What we ask in the survey (4 topics)
The survey focuses on just four areas:
Employment model / scheme
Contracts & documentation (labor contracts, secondment agreements, assignment letters, etc.)
Salary payment & cost allocation (Japan vs. Vietnam, recharge or not)
BHXH (Vietnamese social insurance) enrollment status
Companies that complete the survey will receive a summary report of the statistics:
Ratio of local contracts vs. secondment vs. service-contract models
How salary is paid (Vietnam only / Japan + Vietnam / Japan only)
BHXH enrollment patterns for expats vs. local hires
Key challenges companies are facing (tax, labor, social insurance, accounting, etc.)
All results will be shown only as aggregated statistics.
Company names or any identifiable information will never be disclosed.
