Effective January 1, 2026, Vietnam will implement a new accounting circular, replacing the old Circular 200/2014. Here is a quick summary of the key changes to the Chart of Accounts (COA).
💡 Key Trends: Simplification & Modernization The new circular aims to align with international standards (IFRS) while giving enterprises more autonomy in internal management.
✅ 1. What’s Removed (More Flexibility) Detailed sub-accounts are no longer mandatory. Companies can now structure these based on their own management needs:
Detailed Finished Goods (155) & Merchandise (156) codes
Purchase (611) & Production Cost (631) codes
✅ 2. What’s New (IFRS & Tax Compliance) New accounts have been added to support modern business activities and new tax regulations:
Biological Assets (215/2295): For agriculture/bio sectors (IFRS alignment).
Global Minimum Tax (82112): Specific code for additional CIT expenses.
Asset Upgrades (2414): Clearer tracking for fixed asset improvements.
・Conclusion While the total number of accounts has increased slightly, the system offers greater flexibility for businesses to reflect their true financial status.
